Create a dog and cat shaped pillow! 🐶🐱

Hello community of awesome pawtronas! We're already more than halfway through the challenge and I'm super happy to see all your creations and that we still have days to continue exploring and increasing our creativity wuwuuw

This time we are going to combine creativity and functionality to make some fun pillows that can decorate your home or be a special gift for a friend or family member who loves dogs and cats! 🧸✨

What we will need:

  • Half a meter of fabric (choose a soft fabric like cotton, fleece, textured sheepskin, corduroy, you can make patchwork from different fabrics, velvet)
  • Filling for pillows
  • Sewing machine ready
  • Scissors
  • Printer

I designed two pawtrons that you can download here. Remember that you must print them at 100% scale and join them together before cutting them. Also remember that you have creative freedom and can intervene or make your own patterns! We love to see how you let yourself create.

Steps to assemble the pillow

These steps also apply to the kitten, but you will omit the step of joining the ears. These two patterns have several curves and will help you a lot to practice them. Remember to be patient and sew slowly so that you have a neat and professional result.

Step 1

Take the two ears and line them up right sides together. Sew around the seam allowance of 1 cm and leave an opening at the top to turn out. Trim the seam allowance to .5 cm and turn out.

Step 2

Create a sandwich with the dogs right sides together and the ear in the middle, aligned with the notch on the head. Sew all around leaving an opening of at least 7 cm (this is where you will turn and fill). Then trim the seam allowances to .5 cm and make notches on all the curves and corners.

Step 3

Carefully turn the hole you left over and start filling. Make sure to fill all areas thoroughly.

Step 4

Once filled, close the opening by hand or with your sewing machine very carefully.

And that's it!

You can add eye buttons, make an embroidered face, make clothes or whatever you can think of! The options are endless.
