Improve your sewing skills with our templates

Hello, Paw Pawtronera community! Today I want to talk to you about a fundamental tool to improve your skills: sewing templates! These templates are ideal for practicing and perfecting your techniques, and are a great way to familiarize yourself with using your sewing machine.

What are templates for?

Templates allow you to follow specific lines and shapes as you sew, helping you develop the dexterity needed to make straight and curved seams. Through repeated practice, you can improve your sewing accuracy and confidence.

Materials needed:

• Fabric: You'll need letter-sized pieces of fabric, preferably blanket-sized, although any cotton with enough body and stiffness will work.
• Printing the templates: Make sure to print the templates in letter size at 100%. Place the printed sheet on the fabric and sew over both (the sheet and the fabric) following the dotted line with a color that stands out.

Instructions:

1. Follow the line: The exercise consists of following the dotted line with your sewing machine, trying to make it as straight as possible. I learned this way, practicing these exercises over and over again until my seams came out perfect.
2. Curve exercises: Remember that when working with curves, it is important to slow down and concentrate on how the fabric and machine behave. Patience is key.
3. Finishes: Once you finish sewing, if you have an overlock machine, you can use it for the edges, or use the zigzag stitch to simulate what the finishes of the garments would be like.
