Aug-Oct: Donation for Poza Rica
On October 10, the Cazones River overflowed in Veracruz, leaving thousands of material losses in its wake… and also human and animal lives that could not be saved.
It was a tragedy that shook us all. We watched helplessly as the water swept away homes, streets, and shelters. As the lives of so many beings—our fur babies, cats, and even farm animals—were lost without anyone even mentioning them. But we couldn't stand idly by.
Thanks to Fer (@fernandaagro1), a girl from Poza Rica whom I met through this beautiful community, we were able to join a solidarity drive that she lovingly, dedicatedly, and meticulously organized. She already had a collection center ready. All that was missing was the funds to buy food, leashes, medicine, and basic supplies for the affected animals.
The Pawtrons community responded. We raised $24,140 pesos, of which $3,500 were donations collected through sales in August, September, and October.
With that money:
- Twelve bags of dog and cat croquettes were purchased.
- We purchased 27 little beds (and Mr. Miguel gave us 3 more <3).
- We spent $2,500 on leashes, bowls, shampoos, and chew toys , and thanks to the owner's generosity, he donated even more items. We also purchased small containers to separate the shampoos. 📍 If you also want to support this local business that was part of the aid effort, here is the address of the gentleman who donated the products:
- My dad donated more than 50 tote bags where I put together the kits
- Over $10,000 was spent on veterinary medications, which were delivered to veterinarian Luis (@luis.rojasxdb), who is providing free care to animals in need. In addition, the veterinarian who helped us with the medication also donated food bowls.
- Meat and churus
Once I had the food, I met up with Fer and we started separating the kibble into one-kilo bags. Once I had everything else, I was able to put together 30 complete kits: a tote bag, food bowl, bed, shampoo, chew toys, pouch, leash, and a kilo of kibble <3. The other kits had the same items but without the bed.
Here you can see the reel I made showing everything that was purchased and sent to Poza Rica: https://youtube.com/shorts/I3tRckSlSIg?si=nvOiiNcsFF4hou5d

This is Fer <3 and thanks to her support, we've been able to provide aid since mid-October, and she's still helping all month long! Thank you for being our helping hands there. There's still so much to do, so if you'd like to donate or continue supporting her with donations, please don't hesitate to contact her! @fernandaagro1
We cannot and must not remain indifferent 🐾
The tragedy in Veracruz was not only devastating… it was also ignored by many authorities. Many animals died forgotten at the Poza Rica animal control center, without anyone from civil protection rescuing or protecting them.
And this, we cannot allow.
Let's demand justice. Let's demand public policies that include animals in emergency protocols. Because their lives matter too. Because they deserve care, protection, and respect.
Thank you for choosing to be part of our community 💛
Endless thanks to everyone who poured their heart into this cause. To you, who donated, shared, organized, or simply paid attention.
Thank you Fer, for being our hands and taking everything to Poza Rica.
Thank you Luis, for putting your vocation at the service of those who need it most.
